Who am I?

I am 25 years old and I come from the Netherlands. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been concerned about our planet, inhabitants, nature and animal world. Therefore, it was a sensible choice to specialize in sustainability with a so called ‘minor’ in Global Development Studies during my bachelor communication in the Netherlands. The minor has given me the wonderful experience of volunteering in Sri Lanka. After completing my bachelor communication, I missed more in-depth knowledge of the subject of sustainability and its link to communication. For that reason, I moved to Sweden in August to pursue the master’s degree in Sustainable Communication at Jönköping University. This master’s degree provides the connection between communication and sustainability that I longed for.

My goal

Sustainability is important to me because it hurts me to see what is happening to the environment. I do not want to be a bystander. Instead, I want to do what lies within my power to make our Earth a better place. I want new generations to be able to experience the same wonderful world as I have experienced, with equality and respect for animals, the environment and people alike. There are lists of business benefits of working on sustainability, but the main reason for companies to operate sustainably, in my opinion, is the sustainable social, economic and environmental responsibility that everyone, companies included, has on this planet. What lies within my power is communication and I can use this ‘power’ to help companies be the best version of themselves and the planet’s best friend.

I am blessed with the quality of having incredibly broad interests. When I am not yet familiar with something, I am able and willing to quickly generate interest by immersing myself in the subject. I find it important and interesting to keep developing myself, I like to learn new things and I adapt easily. When looking within the communication field, Corporate Social Responsibility and seeking solutions to optimally work and live together in harmony with nature and biodiversity are important to me.
